Récompenses, suite (et triste) fin...
La tradition symphonique n'intéresse visiblement plus grand monde dans les hautes sphères académiciennes cinématographiques.
Samedi dernier, le jury des Césars a récompensé Mathieu Chedid pour Ne le dis à personne tandis que c'est encore une fois Gustavo Santaolalla qui raflle la mise à Hollywood pour Babel.
Un bien triste bilan pour tous ceux qui fantasmaient déjà sur les partitions de The Queen (Alexandre Desplat), Azur & Asmar (Gabriel Yared) ou encore sur le prodigieux hommage de Thomas Newman à son père Alfred (The Good German). Tellement prévisible...
Heureusement, en ce soir du 25 février, Ennio Morricone a illuminé le Kodak Theatre de sa présence. Le musicien, nommé à cinq reprises aux Oscars (Days of Heaven en 1978, The Mission en 1986, The Untouchables en 1987, Bugsy en 1991 et enfin Malena en 2000), n'avait jamais remporté la statuette. Cette année, l'Academie s'est réveillée et lui a remis un Oscar d'honneur. Standing ovation pour le compositeur italien qui a brièvement dérogé à sa sainte règle (celle de ne jamais parler autrement qu'en italien) avec un "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. "
Clint Eastwood lui a remis la préciseuse récompense et a par la même occasion servi de traducteur :
"Yes. I will tell you what he's saying. Ennio wants to thank the Academy and all the people who really truly wanted him to have this great honor.
His deep gratitude goes to all the directors who had faith in him. Without them he says he wouldn't be here today.
His thoughts go out to the artists who have never received this honor. And even though they work with enormous commitment and talent, to all of them he wishes that their work would be recognized as his is tonight.
He says this Oscar is not a point of arrival but a starting point to continue writing with the same passion and dedication he's had since the very beginning on the screen.
He dedicates this Oscar to his wife Maria who has always been there with him all these years with enormous commitment and love, which he feels the same for her. Maria."
